When global fintech company Revolut wanted to attract talented Product Owners and Engineers, Pulse Studio was commissioned to create a series of high-end recruitment films showcasing the people, opportunities and working environment behind the business.
Rather than creating a conventional employer-brand video, the concept used the development of Rev10 — a major new version of the Revolut app — as the story through which to explore what it was actually like to work at Revolut.
We interviewed Product Owners and Engineers directly involved in developing Rev10, combining their experiences with cinematic footage of the teams, office environment, coding and design process, app visuals and motion graphics.
Filmed across two days at Revolut’s London offices, the project resulted in dedicated films for Product Owners and Engineers, alongside a shorter Rev10 film bringing the wider story together.

The Brief: Attracting World-Class Fintech Talent
Revolut wasn’t simply recruiting people to fill vacancies. The company wanted to communicate why ambitious Product Owners and Engineers might choose to build their careers within one of the world’s fastest-moving fintech environments.
Key recruitment messages included the opportunity to:
- Work alongside exceptionally talented people
- Take genuine ownership of projects
- Enjoy independence and autonomy
- Solve real customer problems
- Work on products used by a large international customer base
- Develop quickly through unique technical challenges
- Work flexibly between home and office
- See the impact of your work
- Be recognised and rewarded for results
The challenge was communicating those benefits without producing a film that simply listed them. Instead, we built the recruitment story around something tangible: the creation of Rev10.
Using a Real Project to Tell the Recruitment Story
Rev10 gave us a way to demonstrate Revolut’s working culture through a project its employees had actually delivered.
We interviewed two Product Owners alongside three Engineers working across backend, frontend and mobile development, exploring their involvement in bringing the new version of the app to life.
Rather than asking employees to make generic statements about why Revolut was a great place to work, our interviews explored the reality of the development process.
What challenges had they faced?
How did different teams work together?
How much ownership did individuals have?
What was it like working towards a major launch deadline?
And, ultimately, how did it feel to see something they’d helped create being used by customers?
This gave the recruitment messaging context and credibility.
It’s an approach we regularly use within our recruitment video production work: demonstrate the employee proposition through genuine experiences rather than simply asking people to repeat employer-brand messaging.
Product Owners and Engineers: Two Different Perspectives
One of the strengths of the project was being able to explore Revolut through different roles. The Product Owner film focused on areas including ownership, autonomy, customer needs, collaboration and the process of taking Rev10 from an idea through to launch.
The Engineer film explored the technical challenges behind the product, collaboration between engineering disciplines and what it was like to see their work directly influence the way customers interacted with Revolut. Although both groups had been involved in the same product, their perspectives were different.
Creating dedicated films allowed Revolut to speak more directly to different candidate audiences rather than trying to fit every role and recruitment message into one generic company video. For larger organisations recruiting across multiple disciplines, this can make recruitment content considerably more relevant to the people they’re trying to attract.
Bringing the Rev10 Development Story to Life
The interviews provided the narrative, but we wanted the visual side of the films to show the environment and work being discussed. Across two days at Revolut’s Westferry Circus offices in London, we captured Product Owners and Engineers working individually and collaboratively.
This included:
- Engineers coding and developing Rev10
- Product and interface design
- Creative and development meetings
- Teams working together
- Employees interacting with the app
- Office and workplace footage
- Informal working environments
- Revolut branding
- Customers using Rev10
These sequences were combined with screen recordings of the app, motion graphics and establishing footage of London to create a much broader visual story around the product. Rather than relying solely on interviews, candidates could see the teams and technology behind the work.

The visual treatment was particularly important for Revolut. The recruitment films needed to feel consistent with the company’s wider brand and the visual style established through previous Revolut video content.
We combined cinematic live-action footage with dynamic editing, carefully selected establishing imagery, screen content and motion graphics. The films also used Rev10 itself as a visual device.
The story could begin with someone using the finished product before taking the viewer backwards into the people and development process responsible for creating it — eventually returning to the customer experience.
This helped connect an otherwise abstract recruitment message to something concrete: the work these employees were doing was directly shaping a product customers could use.
Our wider corporate video production work often follows the same principle. Rather than simply telling an audience that an organisation is innovative, ambitious or collaborative, find ways to show the evidence behind those claims.
Making Employee Interviews Feel Authentic
With a brand like Revolut, it would have been easy for the recruitment messaging to become overly polished. We wanted the employees themselves to remain at the centre of the films. Our interviews therefore explored specific experiences rather than simply asking contributors to recite predefined company messages.
Product Owners and Engineers could talk about real development challenges, deadlines, collaboration, ownership and moments of pride from the Rev10 project. The key employer-brand messages were built into the interview themes, but contributors were free to explain those ideas through their own experiences and language.
This resulted in much more natural answers while still allowing the finished films to communicate the reasons Revolut wanted prospective candidates to understand. For recruitment content, that distinction is important. Candidates are much more likely to believe an employee describing something they’ve genuinely experienced than a company simply making the same claim about itself.
One Production, Three Recruitment Films
The project was planned around multiple outputs from the outset. Across the two filming days, we captured enough interview and supporting material to create:
1x Product Owners Film
Approximately 1–2 minutes, focused specifically on the experience and opportunities available to Product Owners.
1x Engineers Film
Approximately 1–2 minutes, focused on Revolut’s engineering environment, technical challenges and opportunities.
1x Rev10 Film
Approximately 2 mins, combining the wider story of the product and the people responsible for developing it.
This approach allowed Revolut to create content for specific candidate groups while still getting considerably more value from the same production. Rather than producing one broad recruitment video designed to speak to everyone, individual films could address the motivations and experiences most relevant to different roles.
The Finished Revolut Recruitment Videos
Outcomes
The finished films gave Revolut a suite of high-end recruitment content built around the real people and real work behind one of its major product releases.
Through Product Owners and Engineers directly involved in Rev10, prospective candidates could hear about autonomy, collaboration, technical challenges, career development and the impact of their work from people already experiencing those things.
Combining those interviews with cinematic workplace footage, app visuals and motion graphics helped the films maintain the high production values expected from a global technology brand.
Results
While we don’t have access to Revolut’s internal recruitment data and therefore wouldn’t attribute specific hiring results to the films, the project created a flexible collection of recruitment assets capable of speaking to different specialist audiences.
More importantly, the content moved beyond generic employer-brand claims.
Rather than simply telling prospective candidates that Revolut offered ownership, talented colleagues and challenging work, the Rev10 story provided a real-world example of those qualities in action.
Planning Recruitment Video for Specialist or Hard-to-Fill Roles?
When you’re recruiting highly skilled people, candidates are evaluating far more than a job description.
They want to understand the calibre of people they’ll work alongside, the problems they’ll solve, the responsibility they’ll be given and whether their work will actually make an impact.
Recruitment video allows your existing team to provide that evidence.
And when you’re recruiting across multiple disciplines, creating role-specific films can make the content considerably more relevant than asking one generic employer-brand video to communicate everything.
At Pulse Studio, our recruitment video production team creates employer-brand and recruitment films for organisations looking to attract the right people, supported by more than 12 years of corporate video production experience.
If you’re planning a recruitment campaign and want to show prospective candidates what they’ll actually get to work on and who they’ll get to work alongside, get in touch with our team to discuss your project.
